Have you ever wanted to treat yourself to a nice bottle of wine with high-quality cheeses, but you’re unsure which red wine and what type of cheese to buy?
We’ll be happy to break that down for you!
Pinot Noir Rosé with Havarti
The crisp and soft strawberry notes of our Pinot Noir Rosé pair nicely with Havarti cheese. Both slightly acidic and somewhat sweet, they complement each other’s core characteristics. Rosé is delicious but delicate, and the flavours that are found in Havarti completes the wine charmingly.
Pinot Noir and Gruyere
Pinot Noir is an exceptionally flexible wine to pair with different cheeses. Given the vast versatility of Pinot Noir, Gruyere cheese is just one of the many options you can pick from – Its tasting notes include medium-bodied, fruity tones with a soft finale…. Sounds familiar doesn’t it? That’s right! it has very similar characteristics to a Yarra Valley Pinot Noir. Pairing Gruyere with Pinot Noir is a fantastic match for those that enjoy a delicate, smooth, and nutty cheese along with a flavoursome raspberry, cherry, medium bodied wine.
Cabernet Sauvignon and Aged Cheddar
How could we not include this classic! Aged Cheddar’s fattiness matches up perfectly with the tannins you’ll taste in our Cabernet Sauvignon. Tannins absolutely LOVE fatty flavours, so this is simply a match made in heaven. The Merlot we include in our Cabernet Sauvignon gives a smooth finish, which combines wonderfully with crunchy texture of Cheddar.
Shiraz and Blue Cheese
Controversial? Maybe. Blue Cheese isn’t everyone’s first choice, however, when pairing a Yarra Valley Shiraz with Blue Cheese you will understand why they go so well together. Shiraz is full-bodied, oaky, and full of black fruit flavours such as blackberry and cherry – When mixing this with a salty, sharp, and creamy Blue Cheese…. It is simply exceptional! These two charmers bring out the best in each other, and you will love tasting their complexities.
We hope you enjoyed our cheese and wine pairing recommendations.
